Shiara Ortiz-Pujols, MD, MPH, currently serves as the Director of Obesity Medicine at Staten Island University Hospital since January 2024. Prior to this role, Shiara held the position of Obesity Medicine Doctor at Northwell Health and Medical Director of Obesity Medicine at MedExpress. Shiara's experience includes developing and implementing a comprehensive medical weight loss program at UnitedHealth Group, aimed at improving workforce health and serving as a model for broader population health initiatives. Shiara's academic background includes a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in English Literature/Pre-Med from Yale University.
