Tore Humstad

Chief Engineer at Statens vegvesen - Norwegian Public Roads Administration

Tore Humstad has a diverse work experience over the years. Tore started their career at Søndenfjeldske Dragonregiment, the Norwegian Cavalry, where they served as a reconnaissance soldier and patrol leader from 1996 to 1997. Tore then worked as an engineering geologist at Multiconsult from 2003 to 2006. Following that, they joined Statens vegvesen as an engineering geologist, where they specialized in geological mapping for landslide risk reduction and tunneling in Møre & Romsdal County. Tore also developed a CAD tool for geological mapping of tunnels in Norway. Tore worked at Statens vegvesen until 2015, holding positions such as Senior Engineer and later Chief Engineer. In these roles, they were responsible for project management and represented the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) in the Norwegian Avalanche Warning Service (NAWS). Additionally, Tore had temporary positions as the principal of Nordfjord Folk High School and manager for the company Nordfjord folkehøgskule SA from 2012 to 2014 and 2015 respectively. These positions involved overseeing the school, including the brands Nordfjord Adventure and Nordfjord hostel, and managing a team of employees.

Tore Humstad pursued their education in a chronological manner, beginning with a Master of Technology in Geological/Geophysical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 1998 to 2003. In 2001, they attended the University Center of Svalbard for Bachelor courses focused on Arctic geology and geophysics. Tore also completed a program in Outdoor Education, specifically "Elev friluftsliv," at Nordfjord folkehøgskule from 1995 to 1996.
