David Heeger

Chief Scientific Officer at Statespace

David Heeger has worked in a variety of roles in the fields of psychology, neuroscience, electrical engineering, computer science, and biophysics. David has been a professor at New York University since 2002, where they hold the title of Silver Professor and Professor of Psychology and Neural Science and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. David has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a PhD in Computer Science. Prior to their work at NYU, Heeger was a Research Scientist at the NASA Ames Research Center from 1990-1992 and an Assistant Professor of Psychology, Neuroscience, and Computer Science at Stanford University from 1992-2017. David then served as Chief Scientific Officer at Statespace from 2017-2018 before becoming Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder of Epistemic AI in 2018.

David Heeger completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. David then went on to receive their Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) in Computer Science from the same university in 1985. Two years later, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1987, they became a Postdoctoral fellow at the MIT Media Lab, where they studied Neuroscience.
