George Kanoungi

George Kanoungi, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and research. George is currently working at Statista as a Lead Data Scientist since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Data Scientist at Statista from June 2020 to January 2022.

Before joining Statista, George was self-employed and worked as a Freelance Data Analyst and Data Consultant from June 2019 to June 2020.

George also has experience in academia, specifically at the Cologne Center for Genomics - University of Cologne. George served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate from August 2018 to May 2019, where they focused on OMICS data analysis and the development of association analysis methods and applications in C++. Prior to this, they worked as a Research Associate from March 2013 to August 2018, where they were involved in OMICS data analysis and the implementation of simulation and modeling frameworks in python.

George Kanoungi, PhD, attended Aleppo University from 2000 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science & Diplom in Mathematics. From 2009 to 2012, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematics at Universität des Saarlandes. Building on their academic background, they then enrolled at the University of Cologne from 2014 to 2018, where they earned their PhD in Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics.
