John Young

John Young is a seasoned professional in public affairs and communications, currently serving as the Manager of Public Affairs for UK Devolved Markets at Statkraft since July 2023. Prior experience includes a role as a Business Council Member for Scotland with the Confederation of British Industry from November 2023 to January 2025, and Associate Director positions at 5654 & Company and BCW Global, including time spent in Washington, DC. John Young has also held the position of Account Director at Burson-Marsteller, Policy and Communications Adviser for the Department for Communities and Local Government, and Public Affairs Assistant at the Royal Academy of Engineering. Earlier career highlights feature a Policy Advisor role at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations, and internships at the Zimbabwe Benefit Foundation and Index on Censorship. Educational background includes a Masters degree in Human Rights from UCL and a Bachelors degree in History and Politics from the University of Aberdeen.
