Unlocking the value of data and statistics is something that Rachael has been passionate about her whole career, spanning over 20 years. Since joining Stats NZ, she has worked in a range of analytical and leadership roles across all three offices – Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. In 2014, Rachael went on secondment to lead the Secretariat supporting the first stage of the Government Inquiry into the Whey Protein Concentrate Contamination Incident.
Rachael has represented New Zealand in the international statistical community including as the working chair of the United Nations Friends of the Chair Group on the Fundamental Principles for Official Statistics and Open Data. She has also been a member of the New Zealand AI Forum Executive Council since 2019.
