Emma started her career in the Civil Service Fast Stream program for graduate economists and spent eight years as a government economist, working in the Home Office and later the Department for Transport.
During her time in government, she worked on areas such as security policy, transport strategy, road investment, and Heathrow expansion. In 2016 she left the Civil Service to join a multinational mining company in their Singapore-based shipping HQ. She took on a number of different roles in the company, working on freight optimization, analytics, program evaluation, and commercial finance. Emma’s roles in Singapore gave her a broad range of commercial experience and insight into the functioning of a successful global company.
Emma’s work at Steer Economic Development draws from her experience in both the private and public sectors – including business case development, research, evaluation, strategy, and appraisal.
