Chad Cathcart

Director - Research at STELCO

Chad Cathcart has extensive work experience in the steel industry. Chad started their career at Stelco in 1997 as a Process Metallurgist in the Steelmaking & Casting department. Chad later became a Department Manager in Metallurgy and Quality Assurance for the same department, holding this position from March 2006 to November 2007.

In December 2007, Chad joined U. S. Steel Canada as a Department Manager in Metallurgy & Quality Assurance for Steelmaking & Casting. Chad remained in this role for almost nine years, until October 2016.

Chad then returned to Stelco, now known as STELCO - The Steel Company of Canada, in November 2016. Chad held the position of Manager - Steelmaking & Casting Quality Assurance for one year before becoming the Manager - Hot Strip Quality Assurance in December 2017. Chad held this role until June 2019.

Chad's most recent position at STELCO is Director - Research, starting from July 2019.

Chad Cathcart obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from Queen's University, which they attended from 1993 to 1997. In November 2000, they also obtained the Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) certification from Professional Engineers Ontario.
