Fire Chief - Stelco Lake Erie Works at STELCO

Stephen Thomson CMM III has extensive work experience in emergency services and security. From October 2004 to August 2011, they worked as an Emergency Services and Security Officer for Stelco-Lake Erie Works, being responsible for the protection of employees and property and responding to emergencies. From August 2011 to December 2018, they served as the Emergency Services and Security Shift Manager (Platoon Chief) for the same company, overseeing the protection of employees and employers' property and responding to emergencies. Since December 2018, they have been the Fire Chief for the Emergency Services and Security Department at Stelco - Lake Erie Works, responsible for fire protection, risk analysis, and emergency response. Additionally, they have served as a Volunteer Firefighter and District Deputy Chief for Norfolk County since May 2004, ensuring high-quality fire protection, responding to incidents, and providing education on emergency prevention.

Stephen Thomson CMM III has a diverse education history. Stephen started their education in 1991 at Waterford District High School, where they obtained their Ontario Secondary School Diploma in 1996. Following that, they pursued a Police Foundations program at Sir Sandford Fleming College from 1996 to 1999, earning a College Diploma.

To further enhance their knowledge and skills in the field of fire and public safety, Stephen attended Lambton College - Fire & Public Safety Centre of Excellence from 2005 to 2020. Here, they focused on NFPA 600 - Industrial Fire Brigades. Additionally, they acquired specialized training at the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (OFMEM) - Ontario Fire College from 2007 to 2019.

Stephen also pursued certifications in hazardous materials and emergency management. Stephen completed NFPA 1072 Haz-Mat Technician and Operations program at the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (FESTI) from 2008 to 2022. Moreover, they received training in emergency management through the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (OFMEM) - Emergency Management Ontario from 2017 to 2023, which included courses such as IMS 100, IMS 200, IMS 300, EM 125, EM 131, and EM 200.

In 2015, Stephen joined the Fire Department Safety Officers Association (FDSOA) for additional professional development. Although the duration of their involvement is not specified, it shows their commitment to advancing their expertise in fire suppression and safety.

Furthermore, Stephen proved their dedication to continuous learning and professional growth by attending the Ontario Municipal Management Institute. Stephen successfully earned the Certified Municipal Manager (CMM III) designation, specializing in fire suppression professionals, from 2016 to 2022.

Throughout their education journey, Stephen Thomson CMM III has undertaken various programs and certifications to broaden their knowledge in fire safety, hazardous materials, and emergency management.
