Gonçalo Cardoso

Gonçalo Cardoso has a diverse work experience spanning different companies and roles. Gonçalo worked at Stem, Inc. as a Principal Data Scientist - Optimization, where they made key contributions by developing and deploying optimization models used across the company. Gonçalo also focused on wholesale market applications. Before that, they held the position of Senior Data Scientist - Optimization at Stem, Inc., where they formulated and implemented optimization models and provided cross-functional analyses to support business strategy.

Gonçalo also worked at Berkeley Lab in various roles, including Guest Scientist / Affiliate, Principal Scientific Engineering Associate, Senior Scientific Engineering Associate, Postdoctoral Fellow in Energy and Environmental Operations Research, and Contractor / Researcher. Gonçalo was involved in DER modeling and optimization activities supported by different programs and initiatives. Additionally, they worked as a Civil Engineer at COBA, where they focused on water supply network modeling, and as a Junior Researcher / Consultant at CEHIDRO, where they specialized in Hydraulic Structures.

Gonçalo Cardoso has a strong educational background in engineering and sustainable energy systems. In 2006, they obtained a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico. Gonçalo furthered their education at the same institution and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Sustainable Energy Systems as part of the MIT Portugal Program from 2007 to 2013. Additionally, in 2013, Cardoso completed certification in OffGrid PV Systems from ADENE - Portuguese Energy Agency.
