Sophie Sanchez, PhD, is the Founder and CEO of STEM Muse, an initiative dedicated to enhancing the recruitment, retention, and success of women in STEM through mentorship. Currently serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin’s Institute for Neuroscience, Sophie generates transgenic C. elegans to study human 21st chromosome gene orthologs. As Outreach Coordinator and Industry Recruitment Chair for the Society for Advancing Gender Equity in STEM at UT, Sophie has significantly expanded mentorship programs, benefiting over 100 pairs. Sophie's academic journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University and is projected to complete a PhD in Neuroscience from The University of Texas at Austin in May 2024. Previous experience includes research assistant roles at Texas A&M University and Baylor College of Medicine, as well as work as a tour guide at Lake Travis Zipline Adventures.
