Alicia Heffner

Alicia Heffner has a diverse work experience beginning in 2006 as a Customer Service Representative for ASUCLA. Alicia then had an internship experience at Carl Samrock Public Relations in 2007. In 2008, they worked as an Undergraduate Associate for Corporate Responsibility at The Walt Disney Company and also served as the Internal Affairs Executive Director for the UCLA Student Alumni Association.

Alicia began their teaching career in 2009 as a Secondary English Teacher for Teach for America. Alicia worked in this role until 2013 when they joined Lighthouse Academies as a Secondary English Teacher. During their time at Lighthouse Academies, they also held the positions of Literacy Specialist and Literacy Consultant, where they focused on improving literacy performance for students of all abilities.

In 2019, Alicia joined STEM Preparatory Schools as a Secondary ELA Teacher and ELA Department Lead. Their responsibilities include delivering critical literacy instruction and implementing a co-teaching model to support students with disabilities and English Language Learners. Alicia aims to achieve high graduation, acceptance, and matriculation rates in STEM-related fields.

Alicia Heffner obtained their Master's degree in Education with a focus on Reading, Writing, and Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania - Graduate School of Education from 2016 to 2017. Prior to that, they received their Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Theater from UCLA between 2005 and 2009.
