Amanda Vanden Hoek has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Amanda started their career as an Animal Technician at BC Cancer Agency in 2004. Amanda then moved on to work as a Research Assistant at Royal Military College of Canada, where they developed new testing procedures and performed experiments on tumour-bearing mice.
In 2005, Amanda joined The University of British Columbia as a PhD Candidate and later became a Postdoctoral Fellow, specializing in the identification and characterization of coagulation factor X mutations. During their time at UBC, they also trained and supervised Masters students in molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques.
Amanda's industry experience also includes various roles at STEMCELL Technologies. Amanda started as a Product Marketing Specialist in 2012 and progressed to become a Product Marketing Manager, Senior Product Marketing Manager, and eventually a Senior Product Manager. Their most recent role at STEMCELL Technologies is Director of Product Management, Immunology, which they began in May 2022.
Amanda Vanden Hoek obtained a Ph.D. in Pathology from The University of British Columbia between 2005 and 2011. Prior to that, they completed their B.Sc. in Biochemistry at the same university from 2001 to 2005.
