Harry Jaako

Harry Jaako possesses extensive experience in leadership and advisory roles across various sectors, particularly in the biotechnology and venture capital industries. Currently serving as an Advisory Board Member at STEMCELL Technologies since March 2018, Jaako has contributed to the growth of Canada’s largest biotechnology company. As the President and co-founder of Discovery Capital from August 1986 to December 2021, Jaako played a pivotal role in raising venture capital funds and supporting numerous technology ventures in British Columbia. Additionally, Jaako has served on the Boards of Directors for multiple Canadian Exchange enterprises, including TMX Group Limited for over 20 years. As Honorary Consul at the Consulate of Estonia in Vancouver, Jaako fostered trade and educational partnerships between Canada and Estonia. Other notable roles include Independent Director at Avigilon Corporation, finance columnist for Business in Vancouver, and various positions in the IT domain early in the career. Jaako holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil from Lakehead University, earned between 1968 and 1974.
