Gayleen Smith, CPA, CCEP has a strong background in finance and auditing. Gayleen started their career in 1995 as a Finance Associate I at Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation. Gayleen then moved on to NiSource in 1999, where they worked as a Senior Internal Auditor and later as a FERC Compliance Manager until 2009.

In 2009, Gayleen joined McJunkin Red Man Corporation as the Manager of Internal Audit and Compliance, a role they held until 2011.

Currently, Gayleen works at Steptoe & Johnson PLLC, where they have served in various roles since 2011. Gayleen started as an Energy Project and Compliance Specialist before being promoted to Controller - ENR in 2013, and most recently as Controller as of May 2022. Gayleen has a strong track record in finance and compliance, and their experience spans over two decades in the industry.

Gayleen Smith, CPA, CCEP, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from WV State College, which they obtained between the years 1983 and 1987. Prior to that, they attended Poca High School from 1980 to 1983, where they pursued general studies. In addition to their educational background, Gayleen also holds two additional certifications. Gayleen became a Certified Public Accountant in August 1991 through the WV Board of Accountancy. Furthermore, in September 2006, they obtained the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional certification from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE).
