Bruce Swope's work experience begins in 1979 when they worked as a Senior Programmer/Systems Analyst at International Paper. Bruce designed and programmed process control systems, supported existing systems, trained new employees, performed system administration, and traveled to users' plants to troubleshoot problems. Bruce then joined Intermedics in 1986 as the Director of Software Systems Development, where they were accountable for software development for FDA-approved medical products and worldwide engineering IT infrastructure organization. Bruce successfully reengineered the entire product family and reduced development costs by instituting a repeatable set of processes. In 1999, Bruce joined Bindview as the VP of Engineering, and they were responsible for product development, worldwide IT, and customer service organization. Bruce reduced development costs by implementing a set of processes, resulting in improved efficiency. Lastly, Bruce joined Sterling Medical Devices in 2004 as the Senior Vice President of Product Development. Details of their roles and responsibilities in this position are not provided.

Bruce Swope pursued their education in the field of computer science. Bruce began their studies at Northeast Louisiana University in 1974, where they earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1978. Additionally, from 1975 to 1979, they attended the University of Louisiana Monroe, majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science, and obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
