Jacob Caplain

7th Grade Head Teacher at Stevens Cooperative School

Jacob Caplain has a diverse work experience in the education and museum sectors. Jacob started their career as a Historical Research/Genealogy Research freelancer in 2011 before transitioning to roles such as General Intern and Volunteer Docent in various museums. From 2011 to 2013, Caplain also served as the Head of the Hebrew Language Program at Ansche Chesed Hebrew School. Jacob then worked as a Student Teacher at the School at Columbia University and PS 276 - Battery Park City School in 2012. In 2013, Caplain took on positions at The Nightingale-Bamford School as an Intern and at Metropolitan Museum of Art as a Teaching Corps Intern. The following year, they became a First Grade Assistant Teacher at Hannah Senesh Community Day School. Since 2014, Caplain has been with Stevens Cooperative School, initially as a 3rd/4th Grade Assistant Teacher, then as a 3rd/4th Grade Head Teacher, and currently as a 7th Grade Head Teacher.

Jacob Caplain earned a BA in American Studies from Barnard College and also received a BA in Midrash from List College at the Jewish Theological Seminary in the years 2006 to 2010. Jacob then pursued further education and obtained an M.S. Ed in Museum Education with Childhood Certification from Bank Street College of Education between the years 2012 and 2014.
