Brian Matthews is a seasoned professional in data engineering, currently serving as the Leader of the Data Engineering theme at STFC since April 2024. They have held positions at STFC since 1986, previously as Group Leader of the Research Data Group. Additionally, Brian contributed as a part-time lecturer at Oxford Brookes University from 2002 to 2015. They were also an Advisory Group Member for the JISC Repositories Programmes from 2006 to 2008 and served as the Deputy Manager for the W3C UK Office between 2000 and 2009. Brian holds an MSc in Computer Science from Imperial College London and a PhD in Computing Science from the University of Glasgow, alongside a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Bristol.
