Astrid de Groot is the current Chairman at Stichting Amsterdams Buurvrouwen Contact. Astrid has also been the owner/adviseur of Plezier MarketingCommunicatie, CSD/Partner of Lowe Direct, and Account Manager of Y&R Wunderman Worldwide. In their previous company, BBSahel, they were a Freelance Marketing Support Specialist from April 2016 to August 2017. There, they were in charge of setting up the brand and communication, including the website, for a company that sells beautiful bags from Africa. Each bag helps to fight poverty in the Sahel region. This company proves that fashion and development aid can go hand-in-hand. Before that, De Groot was the founder/owner of HappyRainyDays from January 2008 to January 2016. HappyRainyDays is a Dutch Brand for nice breathable and waterproof coats in classic colors and happy designs, sold in 300 shops all over the world and online.

Astrid de Groot has a bachelor's degree in communication from HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht), and they are currently studying for a degree in culture studies at the Open Universiteit. Astrid has also worked as an NT2 teacher training teacher at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and as a communication trainer at KSE Etten-Leur.
