Michael van der Zel is an experienced health informaticist and enterprise architect, currently serving as Co Chair of the FHIR NL Validatieteam at Stichting HL7 Nederland since October 2007, and Co-Chair of AID-NL at Health Level Seven International since September 2008. Michael holds significant roles at University Medical Center Groningen, including Health Informaticist and Co Chair of several work groups, focusing on Learning Health System architecture and becoming a subject matter expert in FHIR and zibs. Michael's prior experience includes roles at Regionale Oncologienetwerken, Results4Care, and participations in various initiatives like CIMI and the String of Pearls Initiative. With a solid foundation in software engineering and numerous educational qualifications, Michael is dedicated to advancing healthcare standards and architectures.

Stichting HL7 Nederland is a volunteer organization with over 200 organizational members and an active community of around 50 people. HL7 Netherlands is an Affilliate Member of HL7 International. It's main purpose is to localize HL7 standard specifications, publish and maintain implementation guides for the Netherlands, provide training, and to contribute to the further development of HL7 standards within HL7 International.
