1 april 2014 is de oprichtingsdatum van de Stichting Nationaal Museum van Wereldculturen. Een fusie van Museum Volkenkunde (Leiden), Tropenmuseum (Amsterdam) en Afrika Museum (Berg en Dal). Eén museum op drie locaties. De drie namen blijven bestaan.
