Cynthia McDougall

Senior Research Fellow: Gender, Environment And Development at SEI — Stockholm Environment Institute

Cynthia McDougall is a Senior Research Fellow at the Stockholm Environment Institute, leading initiatives focused on gender, environment, and development since November 2021. Previously, Cynthia served as the Gender Research Theme Leader at WorldFish from January 2015 to November 2021, overseeing gender integration and research across multiple continents. Cynthia's consultancy work in 2014 specialized in gender, diversity, and community-based governance. As a recipient of a research award from the International Development Research Centre, significant contributions were made to climate change and health research in Sub-Saharan Africa. Earlier roles include extensive research at the Center for International Forestry Research, where gender and participatory research in community forestry were emphasized. Cynthia's career began in environmental education with the B.C. Ministry of the Environment. Education credentials include a PhD in Social Sciences from Wageningen University, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a BA from Trent University.
