Erik Rylander

Head Of Carbon Dioxide Removal (cdr) at Stockholm Exergi

Erik Rylander has a comprehensive work experience in the energy and environmental sector. Erik currently holds the role of Head of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) at Stockholm Exergi, where they are responsible for establishing a business unit focused on delivering carbon removal services to companies and states aiming for net-zero emissions. Erik is leading the deployment of large-scale BECCS technology to mitigate climate change. Rylander also served as the Head of Open District Heating at Stockholm Exergi, where they developed and implemented a unique business model that allowed companies to turn cooling costs into revenue from recovered heat. Erik aimed to optimize production and extend heat recovery, reducing Stockholm's reliance on fossil fuels. Prior to joining Stockholm Exergi, Rylander held the role of Head of Stockholm Data Parks at Stockholm Exergi, where they facilitated the attraction of data center investments to Stockholm and utilized their waste heat for the district heating system. This initiative gained international recognition for its contribution to sustainability and climate positivity. Earlier in their career, Rylander worked at Fortum Värme, where they held various managerial positions, including Manager of Customer Engineering and System Design, and Manager of Distribution District Heating and District Cooling. In these roles, they were involved in operations, maintenance, system design, and investments for the Stockholm district heating and cooling systems. Rylander's work experience reflects their commitment to implementing sustainable and financially viable solutions for energy and environmental challenges.

Erik Rylander completed their Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Erik attended the institute from 1994 to 1999. Additionally, in 1997 and 1998, they were part of the M.Sc. program at the Hamburg University of Technology, although the field of study was not specified. Prior to that, in 1993 and 1994, they were a Special Student at Lawrence University, focusing on Mathematics and Literature.
