Merja Aulanto

Merja Aulanto has a wide range of experience in finance and management roles. Merja started their career in 2003 at Elcoteq Finland, where they served as a Group Business Controller and later as a Group Financial Controller. In these roles, they were responsible for financial accounting and management accounting of the Group, including financial reporting and consolidation. Merja also contributed to the development of financial consolidation tools and ensured compliance with IAS/IFRS standards.

In 2008, Aulanto joined Eltel Networks as a Business Controller, where they provided financial management support and training to the organization. Merja also played a key role in the development of financial reporting and reporting systems.

In 2010, Aulanto moved to Stora Enso, where they held various positions. Merja started as a Process Manager, overseeing the development and maintenance of financial processes and controls in the Record-to-Report area. Merja later became the Director of RtR, leading a project to insource the Record-to-Report processes and further develop them through digitalization and automation. Subsequently, they served as the Director of Finance, responsible for finance operations. Aulanto also took on the role of Head of Finance Delivery in an acting capacity, leading a Shared Service Center providing finance services to internal customers.

In their most recent role at Stora Enso, Aulanto serves as the VP of Sustainable Finance and Group Internal Controls. In this role, they lead sustainable finance initiatives and oversees internal controls within the company.

Throughout their career, Aulanto has demonstrated expertise in financial management, process improvement, and digitalization. Merja has also been involved in various system implementation projects and has experience working in a global context.

Merja Aulanto completed a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from LUT University, studying from 1991 to 1997.
