Tuomo Heikkinen

Vice President, Head Of Biochemicals And Lignin Applications at Stora Enso

Tuomo Heikkinen has a diverse work experience ranging from legal roles to business development. Tuomo started their career as a Freelance Journalist in 2006 and later worked as a Business Journalist at Kauppalehti. Tuomo then joined Hannes Snellman as an Associate Trainee, followed by a role as a Commercial and Legal Advisor at Kymppi Group Ltd.

In 2013, they returned to Hannes Snellman as an Associate Lawyer and later became a Senior Associate. In 2014, they joined the University of Lapland as a Visiting Lecturer.

Tuomo Heikkinen's career then took a shift towards the biomaterials industry. Tuomo joined Stora Enso as Lead Counsel at Packaging Materials and later took on the role of Lead Counsel at Biomaterials. Tuomo was then promoted to SVP, Legal, Ethics & Compliance and Governance Biomaterials, where they led the Legal Services, Ethics & Compliance, and Governance work globally. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President, Head of Business Development in the newly established Growth Business Unit at Stora Enso Biomaterials.

In addition to their roles at Stora Enso, Tuomo Heikkinen has also served as a member of the Board of Directors at Montes del Plata and as a Deputy Member of the Board of Directors at Veracel Celulose S/A.

Tuomo Heikkinen has a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Lapland, which they obtained from 2007 to 2014. In 2018, they passed the Finnish Bar Exam from Suomen Asianajajaliitto. Tuomo also participated in a Student Exchange program at Universidad del Salvador from 2011 to 2012, focusing on Law and Economics. In 2022, Tuomo enrolled in the Senior Leadership Program at Hult Ashridge, which will conclude in 2023. Furthermore, they pursued studies in Social Sciences at the University of Lapland from 2007 to 2011.
