Emily Craven has a diverse work experience in the fields of storytelling, digital content production, and interactive experiences. Emily is the CEO and creator of Story City, a social enterprise that develops interactive narratives through a GPS app. Emily has also worked as a creator, producer, and presenter for Story City, collaborating with local government, organizations, brands, and businesses to create locative adventures.
Emily has presented numerous workshops on interactive storytelling, publishing, and author platforms for various writers' centers and conferences. Emily has also been a blogger, podcaster, and mentor on unconventional publishing and creative experiments through their platform called Craven Stories.
Additionally, Emily has had roles as a customer experience manager at IndigoSpirit, a producer of Street Reads for Brisbane City Council, a writer and co-designer of an interactive AR experience, a digital writer in residence at Brisbane State High School, and a digital producer for if:book Australia and the Queensland Writers Centre. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in unconventional publishing and digital storytelling.
Emily Craven attended Siena Catholic College from 2000 to 2004, where they completed their high school education. In 2006, they enrolled at the University of Adelaide and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Space Science and Astrophysics. During their time at the university, their field of study included Physics and Geophysics. In 2015, they participated in a three-month accelerator project for social enterprises at Impact Academy, focusing on start-up acceleration for social enterprises.

The Story City app, currently a free GPS app for Android and Apple, creates interactive narratives that occur in the location the audience is standing. Whether they be real-life choose your adventures through city streets, indigenous myths, puzzle trails, or historical tales, every Story City story is created by local writers, artists and musicians who know their cities best. Story City has published 40+ interactive stories across 8 cities and in the process has provided professional development to 300+ writers, artists, voiceover narrators, filmmakers and musicians, and have mentored 80+ to create our real-life choose-your-adventures. This is only the start of pivot into an open, and international platform where storytellers of all industries can create location based stories to sell or experience across the world. Our mission is to become the global hub for local stories, fictional game experiences, and self-guided historical, food, art tours. We want you to be able to go anywhere in the world and use Story City to discover a new place. And when you pay for a Story City adventure or tour, that money goes direct to the local person that made it.
