Melanie Welsh has worked in a variety of roles in the media and marketing industry since 1994. Melanie began their career as a Creative Services Executive at Centaur Communications, where they were responsible for creating subscriptions marketing campaigns. Melanie then moved to Pearson plc as a Marketing Executive, Quantum Publishing as a Product Manager, and Time Out as a Direct Marketing Manager, where they worked on the relaunch of timeout.com. In 1997, they joined Guardian Newspapers as Publisher of MediaGuardian, where they held commercial responsibility for the brand and launched the Changing Media annual summit. In 2000, they moved to Worldwide Learning, News Corp as a Marketing Manager. In 2006, they became Head of Strategy at Soup and subsequently Skive, an independent digital marketing agency, where they worked with clients such as Innocent Drinks and Aviva. In 2010, they became a Freelance digital planner and published author, and in 2012 they joined Havas Helia as Executive Planning Director, where they were strategic lead on the Dove, adidas, and GSK accounts. Finally, in 2017, they became Founding Partner of Strat House.

Melanie Welsh obtained their MBA from Cranfield School of Management in 2003. Melanie then obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Information Management (Publishing) from the University of West London between 1990 and 1993. Prior to that, they obtained a Foundation degree in Art/Art Studies, General from the University of Portsmouth between 1989 and 1990. Her education began at Cowes High School between 1984 and 1989.
