Jamie Schug

CFO at Strategic America

Jamie Schug is the current Chief Financial Officer at Strategic America. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Financial Officer at Des Moines Area Regional Transit from August 2010 to April 2020. In this role, they managed all aspects of financial operations and provided oversight of all department functions including accounting, risk management, information technology and purchasing. Jamie was also responsible for budget development and implementation, financial statement preparation, cash management and investments, policy development and implementation, and complex financial analysis.

Before their time at Des Moines Area Regional Transit, Jamie Schug served as the Budget Manager at the City of West Des Moines from May 2000 to August 2010. In this role, they coordinated all aspects of the preparation of the City’s operating budget and designed and prepared the City’s budget document in accordance with the national standards established by the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Awards Program. Jamie also received and responded to public inquiries related to the operating and capital budget, prepared City budget amendments, performed financial, operational and other analysis on specific projects as requested by management and/or City Council, managed and tracked federal grants awarded to the City, maintained fixed asset and insurance listings, and assisted with the preparation of the annual audit and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

Jamie Schug has earned an MBA in Business Administration from Drake University and a BS in Accounting from Iowa State University. Jamie also holds a Certified Public Finance Officer certification from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

They work with Lisa Holtorf - VP, Operations & Integration, Carrie Thomson - Media Director, and Bruce Ganzer - VP, Creative. Their manager is John Schreurs, CEO.
