Peter Story Walters

Milford, MI USA. Peter S. Walters completed a career with Guardian Industries Corp. in December of 2012. He served on Guardian's Board of Directors from 2009 through 2012 and was elected Chairman from 2010 to 2012. Prior to his board duties, Mr. Walters was Group Vice President overseeing the company's international business efforts, public and governmental affairs, environmental management, as well as the company's procurement activities. Mr. Walters' international business responsibilities encompassed all areas outside of the United States, where the company has explored business opportunities. Guardian has aggressively expanded its glass manufacturing business in recent years into Eastern Europe, South America and Asia. Mr. Walters joined Guardian in 1985 as Assistant to the President, was promoted to Vice President of Purchasing in December 1987, and became a Group Vice President in June 1989. Mr. Walters came to Guardian from the Michigan Department of Commerce, where he served in a number of management positions, including director of the Michigan Energy Administration, Deputy Director of the Commerce Department, and Chairman of the Michigan Public Service Commission. Mr. Walters has been active in international trade affairs, including the representation of glass industry interests regarding international trade matters. On several occasions, he has provided congressional testimony regarding international trade. He was active in U.S.-ASEAN Business Council, U.S.-India Business Council, U.S. Saudi Arabian Business Council, Council of the Americas, Business Council for International Understanding and U.S. UAE Business Council Mr. Walters serves on the Michigan Chapter of the Nature Conservancy's Board of Trustees. He formerly served on the boards of the Center for International Private Enterprise, the Michigan State Chamber of Commerce, the Michigan Manufacturing Association, Emory and Henry College, and the Huron Clinton Metropolitan Parks Authority. Mr. Walters received a master's degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University and a bachelor's degree in political science from Emory and Henry College in Virginia. He joined the Stratford Festival's Board of Directors in April 2023 and serves on the Finance & Audit Committee.
