Gene Ballachay

Gene Ballachay began their work experience as an Operator at Archer Daniels Midland in 1997. In 2002, they joined Cenovus Energy as a Process Operator/Regulatory Technician, where they led environmental and safety initiatives, optimized steam oil ratio, and oversaw the installation of lift gas systems and displacement pumps. From 2011 to 2021, Gene worked at Husky Energy as an Operations Specialist - Field Projects, collaborating with various departments and providing input on operational efficiency. Currently, they are employed at Strathcona Resources Ltd. as a Field Operations Specialist. In this role, Gene champions a proactive approach to maintenance programs and prioritizes maintenance requests. Gene also oversees capital improvement projects, the development of new well pads, and troubleshooting downhole and service equipment issues.

Gene Ballachay attended Rabbit Lake Central High School and obtained a High School Diploma. Later, they pursued a Diploma in Business Management from Lakeland College Canada between 1992 and 1994. Finally, they obtained a 3rd Class Power Engineer degree from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
