Jim Callbeck, P.Eng., PMP has extensive work experience in the oil and gas industry. Jim has held various roles throughout their career, including Senior Development Engineer at Strathcona Resources Ltd. and Senior Exploitation Engineer at West Lake Energy Corp. In these positions, they focused on developing and implementing enhanced recovery projects, increasing reserves, and adding corporate value.
Jim also worked as Manager, Petroleum Innovation at Hatley Engineering and Applied Technologies Inc., where they coordinated with client executives to develop innovative processes and technologies to improve recoveries and reduce costs. Jim brought new incident investigation software to the Canadian market during their time in this role.
Prior to that, Jim took a hiatus in 2019 to obtain their PMP designation and assist youth with at-home learning. Jim spent a significant portion of their career at Husky Energy, where they held various roles, including Senior Staff Thermal Development/Exploitation Engineer, Senior Staff Reservoir Engineer, Staff Reservoir Engineer, and Development/Exploitation Engineer. In these positions, they managed the development of thermal projects, spearheaded the piloting and testing of new technology, led the creation of a testing environment for CO2 capture technologies, and led the development and planning of field tests of new innovative technologies.
Throughout their career, Jim has demonstrated their ability to mentor and collaborate with teams, bring projects online under budget and ahead of schedule, and drive change within organizations. Jim has a strong background in optimizing production, planning budgets, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance production and operational efficiency.
Jim Callbeck, P.Eng., PMP has a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan. In 2003, they obtained their Professional Engineer (PE) certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). In 2019, they also obtained the Professional Engineer (PE) certification from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan. In 2020, Jim Callbeck obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
In 2022, Jim Callbeck completed a certificate in ESG Reporting from Mount Royal University. Jim also obtained a certificate in Renewable Energy Technologies from the University of Alberta. Additionally, they obtained several certifications including "ESG Reporting and ESIA Processes," "Fundamentals of ESG Reporting," and "Overview of ESG Reporting" from Mount Royal University. Furthermore, they completed the "Indigenous Canada" course from Coursera in 2022.
