Stephen Tyndall

Stephen Tyndall is a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Data at Strava since August 2021. Prior to this role, Tyndall worked as a Backend Engineer at Deepfield from February 2016 to July 2021. Tyndall's academic background includes a PhD in Computational Linguistics from the University of Michigan, complemented by a Master's degree in Linguistics and a Bachelor's degree in Latin Language and Literature from the University of Georgia. Tyndall's research experience spans machine learning for text classification of Hittite-language cuneiform tablets, computational phylogeny, and data-wrangling software tools. Additionally, Tyndall served as a Technical Assistant for the Linguistic Society of America's 2013 Summer Institute and has extensive teaching experience at both the University of Georgia and the University of Michigan, where responsibilities included course design and instruction in composition and linguistic analysis.
