Joy Scharmen

Joy Scharmen has a wealth of experience in the field of infrastructure engineering and management. Joy is currently employed at strongDM as the Director of Infrastructure. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Infrastructure Engineering at High Fidelity, where they focused on creating an immersive audio experience for online human interaction. Before that, Joy worked as the Director of Devops at Optimizely.

In their previous roles, Joy demonstrated their expertise in infrastructure engineering and management. Joy served as the Director of Infrastructure Engineering and Service Reliability Engineering Director at Heroku, where they were responsible for elevating service uptime and ensuring customer satisfaction. Prior to that, they worked as a Prod Ops/SES/Net Ops Manager at Groupon and held various positions at Linden Lab, including Systems Engineering Manager and Integration Engineer.

Joy's early career included roles as a Technical Yahoo at Yahoo! Inc., where they provided high-level application support for Yahoo! Mail, and as a Technical Service Field Engineer at TANDBERG, Inc., where they provided technical support for video conferencing devices.

Joy's work experience also includes being a UNIX Level II Systems Administrator at Hewlett Packard and a Systems and Network Administrator at Olivier and Olivier, PC.

Throughout their career, Joy has consistently demonstrated their passion for infrastructure engineering and their ability to create reliable and efficient systems.

Joy Scharmen attended Clintondale High School from 1995 to 1996. Following that, they enrolled at Michigan State University from 1996 to 1997, but ultimately dropped out. While at Michigan State University, they studied Studio Art, Japanese, and Art History.
