Emily Jane Schankerman is an experienced educator with a strong background in early childhood education and environmental education. Currently serving as a One's Program Educator at the Stroum Jewish Community Center of Greater Seattle, Emily previously held the position of Lead Preschool Teacher at Bezos Academy. With a diverse career spanning over a decade, Emily's roles at the Stroum Jewish Community Center include 2’s Program Educator, Outdoor Classroom and Virtual Learning Educator, and Mentor Teacher. Additional experience includes positions as a Pre-K Teacher, Companion/Mentor/Nanny, Substitute Teacher, and Environmental Educator. Emily holds a Master of Science in Education with a focus on Environmental Education from the University of Washington and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Science from Bradley University.

The Stroum Jewish Community Center offers a variety of programs and activities for the entire family—from newborns to seniors. The SJCC inspires to build community and ensure Jewish continuity through outstanding programs, partnerships, and spaces that welcome everyone to learn, grow, and celebrate together. The SJCC is a nonprofit organization that is open to everyone. Located on Mercer Island, the J is home to an Early Childhood School, Summer J Camp and a full line-up of J Kids programs, the largest fitness center on Mercer Island, an indoor pool, community engagement programs, arts and culture events, and so much more. Founded in 1949, the J continues to serve the Jewish and greater Seattle community with high caliber programming, a welcoming community, and a caring staff that provides outstanding service at every touchpoint.
