Andrew Layton has extensive work experience in the real estate and finance industry. Andrew worked at Student Quarters as the Chief Acquisition Officer and Chief Compliance Officer from December 2013. Prior to that, they served as a Director at Kayne Anderson Real Estate Partners from April 2008 to October 2012. Andrew also held a Vice President position at ING from April 1999 to March 2008, and an Associate role at BT Alex. Brown from September 1996 to July 1998.
Andrew Layton attended the Gilman School from 1974 to 1986, where they did not earn any specific degree or field of study. Andrew then went on to receive their Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy Studies/Political Science from Duke University, graduating in 1990. From 1990 to 1993, they pursued a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Following that, they earned their Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Maryland - Robert H. Smith School of Business, completing their studies in 1996.

Student Quarters’ investment strategy focuses on value-add and core assets located within close proximity to universities with strong enrollment trends. The SQ team aims to drive investment returns through operational improvements, asset repositioning, disciplined acquisition underwriting, and hands-on property management.
