Students Run LA
Each year, Students Run LA (SRLA) creates a safe, supportive community at 180+ public schools, welcoming 3,000+ at-risk middle and high school students across Greater Los Angeles to train alongside their volunteer adult mentors to complete the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon. Through this life-changing program, SRLA students discover their best selves and learn how to make plans for the future. In March 2017, nearly 3,000 SRLA students run the Los Angeles Marathon. Consistently, 99% successfully cross the finish line 26.2 miles later each year! This experience literally changes these young people's lives as they discover what they can accomplish through hard work and commitment. In 2017, 99% of 650+ SRLA seniors graduated high school; 96% of them had plans to attend college in the fall - 430+ of whom were among the first generation in their families to go to college! We're on track to repeat these great results, again, this year. SRLA's program is free for all student participants, most of whom come from low-income neighborhoods. With the support of its donors, SRLA provides students with training shirts, shoes, entry fees, transportation, and more to support them in their training.
