Valerie Leersum

Artist, Designer Project Trajectum at Studio Junctuur

Valerie Leersum is an accomplished artist and designer with extensive experience in various artistic and educational roles. Currently serving as an artist and designer for the project Trajectum at Studio Junctuur, Valerie also participates as a board member at Sence of Place and as the Ambassador of the Noordzee at the Parliament of things. Valerie has been a tutor and visual arts instructor at the Hoge School voor de Kunsten Utrecht since 2003 and conducts workshops for children at the NSDM kinderatelier. In addition, Valerie is involved in artistic research at Oerol Festival and acts as a city artist under the Wijkmakersprogramma for the Over het IJ Festival, engaging local communities in Amsterdam-Noord. Research on soil and its relationship with humanity takes place during seasonal residencies at Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen, and further research on the North Sea and Wadden Sea occurs for the festival Into The Great Wide Open. Valerie has an educational background in Industrial and Product Design and holds a Bachelor of Arts from HKU.
