Jim Main has extensive work experience in the broadcasting industry. Jim started their career as a Broadcast Engineer at BBC Scotland in 1982 and worked there until 1985. Jim then joined STV Group plc as a Senior Broadcast Engineer in 1985 and held that position until 2013. In this role, they were responsible for various tasks including downlinks, contribution circuits, facility communications, technical checks, and maintenance. Additionally, they maintained station drawings and schedules. After that, they took on multiple roles at STV Group plc, including Principal Engineer from 2013 to 2014, Broadcast Systems & Engineering Manager from 2014 to 2023, and currently serves as the Head of Broadcast Engineering.
Jim Main received a Bachelor's Degree in Batchelor of Science from The Open University, where they studied from 1989 to 1994. Prior to that, they attended BBC Engineering Training from 1982 to 1985, where they obtained a degree in ETSI (Broadcast Eng).
