James Yu

James Yu is the founder of Sudowrite (2020–Present) and a writer who has been self-employed since 2017. They published speculative and science fiction stories in Terraform, Uncanny Magazine, the Working Futures anthology, and various other venues. They previously led product initiatives as co-founder and CPO of Parse (2011–2017), which was acquired by Facebook in 2013, where they continued to build the company, and later served as a product manager at Facebook (2013–2017), including work on the 360/VR Media team and launching the first Facebook-branded VR app. Earlier in their career, they were a design engineer at Dolby (2005–2007), a senior product developer at Scribd (2007–2011), and an audio engineering and research intern at Audience, Inc. (2004). They earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University (2000–2004) and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (2004–2005).
