Tawana Nichols has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Tawana started their career as an intern at the San Francisco Housing Authority in 1997. In 1999, they became a Finance Manager at The Clorox Company, where they worked until 2018. During their time there, they also owned Step Change Enterprises, serving as its owner from 1999 to 2012. In 2003, they started Sinless Sensations, a dessert business focused on providing tasty alternatives with no added sugar. Tawana owned and served as the executive artist for the company until 2012. In 2007, they became the Director of Membership for the San Francisco chapter of NABA Inc., a position they held until 2009. Tawana's involvement in the accounting field continued with their position as Treasurer for the San Francisco Professional Food Society from 2013 to 2018. Tawana also served on the Board of Directors for the ACCOUNTING CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAM, starting in 2014. Tawana's leadership skills were evident in their roles with the National Association of Black Accountants Inc., where they held various positions including Vice President of the Western Region from 2021, Secretary of the Western Region from 2019 to 2021, President of the SF Chapter from 2014 to 2019, and Vice President of the SF Chapter from 2012 to 2014. Most recently, they became the Director of Accounting at Sugar Bowl Bakery in 2018.
Tawana Nichols attended Howard University from 1995 to 1999. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Accounting. After a gap of several years, Tawana resumed their education in 2009 by enrolling at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California - San Francisco. Tawana completed their studies there in 2012, specializing in Culinary Management.
