Elyse Scalia

Product Design Engineer UC Berkeley Meng Capstone at SuitX

Elyse Scalia is a Mechanical Engineer currently employed at Intuitive, with prior experience as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Noah Medical, where support was provided for the development of surgical robotic platforms. As a Reader at the University of California, Berkeley, Elyse contributed to a graduate-level course on biomaterials and medical device design by reviewing assignments. Throughout an interdisciplinary capstone project at SUITX by Ottobock, Elyse served as a Product Design Engineer, focusing on the design of a trunk-support exoskeleton to alleviate lower back pain, while also managing project progress and addressing ergonomic challenges. Additional roles include mentoring in writing and communications at the Coleman Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership, and various internships that involved product development and engineering support at Cepheid and Abbott. Elyse holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
