Earl Martin Phalen has a strong background in education and leadership roles. Earl founded and served as the CEO of Summer Advantage USA, a summer learning program for children. Earl also co-founded and was the former CEO of BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life), an organization focused on education. In addition, they acted as a Fellow at Ashoka, a social entrepreneurs organization. Earl served as a Social Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Currently, Phalen is the Founder and CEO of George and Veronica Phalen Leadership Academies (PLA), which operates charter schools in Indiana. Earl is also the President and CEO of KC Scholars and serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
Earl Martin Phalen obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government from Yale University, where they studied from 1986 to 1989. Earl then pursued their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at Harvard Law School, completing their studies from 1990 to 1993.
