Joe Debney

Joe Debney has dedicated their career to ensuring that everyone has a voice in our democracy. Joe began their work in 2004 with the SC State Election Commission as Program Manager. In 2008, they became the Executive Director of the Dorchester County Board of Elections and Registration. In 2010, they took on the same role with the Charleston County Board of Elections and Registration. Joe has served in this capacity for the past 10 years.

In December 2020, Joe Debney was appointed CEO of the Summerville YMCA. Joe is excited to continue their work with the community in this new capacity.

Joe Debney earned a BS in Political Science from Charleston Southern University. Joe also has a certification from the State of South Carolina in Certified Public Manager.
