Jennifer Olson

President at SUMMIT SCHOOL INC

Seventeen years into a successful career as a Financial Advisor, Jennifer wrote a novel, quit her job, and decided to write full time. Summit School of the Poconos and everything it stands for has become a passion that has kept her away from the keyboard more than she’d like to admit—a passion that was initially born from one thing: her son.

Jennifer and her husband both graduated from a local high school (the Stroudsburg Area School District) and went on to attend a local university (East Stroudsburg University). As good students and conventional learners, they were baffled when their son began to struggle in a traditional classroom as early as the first grade. The experience resulted in loads of research and more knowledge about their current traditional education system than either of them ever aspired to know. A background in business paired with this information set a magnifying glass to an overwhelming need for education reform and, at the very least, more educational options at home in Monroe County.

Jennifer is active in her community. She serves as a board member for Pocono Mountains United Way and is the immediate Past Board President for Pocono Alliance. She has helped raise money for several charitable organizations, is a past member of Rotary International, and a graduate of Leadership Pocono. Jennifer is also a founding member of Summit School of the Poconos. The passion that started with her son and led her to Summit School of the Poconos quickly landed at the center of her native community and took on a meaning that far exceeded those of her family. She is committed to continued advocacy for more meaningful educational choices in Monroe County and determined to help as many children access that education as she possibly can.
