Akbar Shahmoradi

Akbar Shahmoradi is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in quantitative analysis, trading, and risk management within the energy sector. Currently serving as the Director of Quantitative Analysis, Pricing and Valuation at Suncor Energy, Shahmoradi leads a global team of credit professionals, overseeing credit limits and exposures from a vast array of counterparties. Prior to joining Suncor in April 2019, Shahmoradi held various roles at Castleton Commodities International, including Vice President of Trading and Strategy Development, where key contributions included managing market analysts and developing trading strategies for natural gas and crude oil. Shahmoradi's earlier experience includes roles at SAS, where emphasis was placed on developing quantitative models and risk simulations for energy companies. Shahmoradi holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics/Mathematical Finance from the University of Calgary.
