Deepak Jhanwar

Deepak Jhanwar, MBA, P.Eng., possesses extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, currently serving as General Manager of Production Planning & Regulatory Compliance at Suncor since May 2001. Jhanwar oversees production planning, logistics, and hydrocarbon value chain optimization for Suncor's OilSands operations, including joint venture assets. Previously held positions include Director of OilSands Production Planning, Optimization & Benchmarking, where management of over 800,000 barrels per day of bitumen and synthetic crude oil was integral, and Director of JV Operations Network, leading initiatives that resulted in cost avoidance exceeding $100 million. Jhanwar's earlier roles involved leadership in Upgrading Process Engineering and foundational experience as a Process Engineer at Bantrel Inc. and research at the University of Calgary. Educational credentials include an MBA focused on Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Law from the University of Alberta and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary, along with a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Benaras Hindu University.
