Peter Zebedee

Peter Zebedee is the executive vice president, Mining and Upgrading where he leads all of Suncor’s mining and upgrading operations, including Syncrude. Peter also oversees Suncor’s involvement with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo community.

Before joining Suncor in 2022, Peter brought 25 years of multi-disciplinary industry and executive leadership experience to his role as CEO of LNG Canada. Prior to his secondment by Shell into the LNG Canada joint venture, Peter’s last position with Shell was vice president Canada Manufacturing and general manager Scotford.

Peter has deep experience in oil sands mining and upgrading and is known as a champion of safety and operational discipline, with a proven track record of effective collaboration with Indigenous communities and stakeholders.

For the first two decades of his career, Peter worked in oil sands mining in a variety of technical and operational positions of increasing responsibility. Through his time at Shell, Petro‑Canada and Syncrude, he held positions in engineering, operations and numerous corporate assignments where he was a driving force in improvements in personal and process safety, delivery of exceptional business results and enhanced competitiveness.

Peter is on the Board of Directors for Energy Safety Canada and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.

Peter holds a bachelor of applied science in geological engineering from the University of British Columbia.
