Darren Gerson's work experience includes various roles in the healthcare industry. Darren started their career in 1998 as a Consultant at Geyer Szadkowski Consulting, where they worked at Toronto East General Hospital and engaged in consulting commitments related to health systems planning and evaluation. From 2001 to 2002, they worked as a Consultant at THiiNC Information Management Inc. In 2003, they joined the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) as a Senior Program Consultant, where they served as a national subject matter expert and provided extensive stakeholder support. In 2006, they were promoted to Manager, Case Mix, leading and directing initiatives related to CIHI's national Case Mix program. Darren later became the Manager, Health Services Research for CIHI before joining Rouge Valley Health System in 2012 as Director, Performance Evaluation Services. Darren then moved to Sunnybrook, where they held multiple roles including Senior Director, Decision Support, Executive Director, Health Information and Decision Support, and Vice President, Quality and Performance.
Darren Gerson completed their education with an MBA in Health Services Management from McMaster University, which they attended from 1996 to 1998. Darren then pursued a BSc in Biophysics from Western University between 1991 and 1996. In 2007, they participated in a Management Excellence Program at Carleton University. In 2011, they engaged in the Advancing Health Leadership program at Royal Roads University.
