Consuelo Hernández

Consuelo Hernandez is a graduate of the Sunnyside School District. After graduating, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Global Health from Arizona State University. Consuelo is dedicated to helping students achieve and understands the struggles young minority students often face as they navigate through the college system. As a college student, Consuelo had few resources and little guidance, and quickly realized the system of higher education was not intended to support students like herself. Hoping to bridge this gap, Consuelo began mentoring at-risk youth, and has since spent more than ten years fighting for education equity in her community. From hosting free citizenship clinics in the Sunnyside community, to raising money to help students afford their DACA renewals, to providing medical and public health services at free clinics in Panama and Ghana—Consuelo is ready to do the work and brings her passion and experience to the Sunnyside Governing Board.
