Chuck Smith

Chuck Smith is a Senior Principal Engineer at Sunrise Labs, Inc. since October 2018, specializing in the development of various medical devices including intra-oral cameras and cryo-anesthetics. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Mechanical Engineer at Dentsply Sirona, where Chuck contributed to medical device design and regulatory compliance, and implemented ultrasonic welding techniques for x-ray sensors. At Schick Technologies, Chuck focused on miniature imaging devices and developed advanced manufacturing techniques. A co-founder and Java/Web Developer at Brothers Digital, Chuck also served as Director of Mechanical Engineering at Varatouch, developing controls for handheld electronics. Additional experience includes designing biomedical research platforms at Alpha Innotech and lecturing at UC Berkeley, where Chuck earned BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering.
